Chetan Sharma will remain the selection committees chairman

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Chetan Sharma, Shiv Sundar Das, Subroto Banerjee, Salil Ankola, and Sridharan Sharath as members of the new selection panel for the Indian Senior Men's team based on the recommendations of the Cricket Advisory Committee. Sharma's retention as the selection committee's head was also suggested by the CAC.

600 applications were examined by the committee, which also included Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra, and Jatin Paranjape, during the process.

"The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), made up of Mr. Ashok Malhotra, Mr. Jatin Paranjape, and Ms. Sulakshana Naik, completed a thorough procedure to choose members of the All-India Senior Selection Committee. After posting an advertisement for the five positions on its website on November 18, 2022, the Board got almost 600 applications. "After careful consideration and reasonable consideration, the CAC picked 11 individuals for personal interviews. The following candidates have been suggested by the Committee for the Senior Men's National Selection Committee based on the interviews, according to a board release.

Sharma and his old coworker Harvinder Singh both submitted new applications for the position. In addition to these well-known applicants for the five posts, Venkatesh Prasad, Maninder Singh, Mukund Parmar, Nayan Mongia, and Sameer Dighe also submitted applications.

Ankola is one of the recently appointed candidates and has been the head of the Mumbai selection committee from December 17, 2020. Since September 17, 2021, S Sharath has presided over the Junior National Selection Committee. The selection committee has played in a combined total of 95 ODIs and 48 Tests. Except for Das, none of the other panelists had participated in T20 games.

In any case, the BCCI had issued a fresh application request following India's early exit from the T20 World Cup in the UAE in 2021 and subsequent loss to England in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup hosted in Australia the previous year by a margin of 10 wickets.

The old selection panel, which included Sharma, Harvinder, Sunil Joshi, and Debasis Mohanty (Abey Kuruvilla resigned as a selector in February 2022), continued to choose the Indian teams for the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, the ODI and Test series against Bangladesh, and the white-ball tour of New Zealand.

The old panel was also assigned the responsibility of keeping track of Ranji Trophy matches because a new selection committee was not present.
