Ishan Kishan named Rahuls replacement for WTC

Ishan Kishan will take KL Rahul's position in the World Tennis Championship final on behalf of India. Rahul, who was hurt, will have surgery and then receive rehabilitation.

Rahul is not the only member of India's WTC team that is listed as injured. The pacers Umesh Yadav and Jaydev Unadkat are currently still included in the WTC team despite being investigated for injury.

"While bowling in the nets, Jaydev Unadkat tripped over the side rope and hurt his left shoulder. The left-arm fast bowler is now receiving strength and shoulder rehab treatments at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru after requesting a professional consultation. His participation in the WTC final will be decided upon at a later time, the BCCI stated in a media statement on May 8th.

With his rehabilitation taking place at the NCA, Unadkat's participation in the final is currently in doubt, although the other pacer Umesh has been permitted to be with his IPL squad.

"On April 26, during Match 36 of the TATA IPL 2023 between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Umesh Yadav suffered a mild left hamstring injury. The fast bowler has begun low-intensity bowling as part of his rehabilitation process while being looked after by the KKR Medical Team at the moment. The BCCI Medical Team is in frequent contact with the KKR Medical Team and is keeping a careful eye on Umesh's development, according to a statement released by the BCCI and signed by Secretary Jay Shah.

Additionally, the backup players for the WTC final have been announced as Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mukesh Kumar, and Suryakumar Yadav.

The most recent roster change comes after a spate of injuries to India's starting lineup, with players like Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant all being ruled out due to different diseases.
